Rising in Love

Fun. Sincere. Alive. Powerful. Rising in Love will make you reach new heights, while falling out of your seat laughing.

What's The Musical Like?!

Take Cole Porter and have him write The Fantasticks in the era of Avenue Q. Voila! You have Rising in Love, a musical about engaged couple Rosie and Scott, and the miscommunications that impact our most intimate relationships.

What's The Show About?

When Rosie finds out Scott’s motives for proposing, she breaks off their engagement – only to discover through healing a relationship with her overbearing mother, confronting her brother’s drug addiction, and meeting some zany friends with their own relationship issues, that sometimes we have to look a little deeper to understand the ones we love.

Rising in Love Staged Reading Workshop - Spring 2019

We are thrilled that Rising in Love will be featured in The Emerging Artist's Theatre's New Work Series as a staged reading workshop in New York City. Stay tuned for which night during the Spring 2019 series you can come be a part of a musical in the making!

The Back Story

Since she was a teenager, songwriter, composer, and lyricist Rory Michelle Sullivan has created art that helps people access healthier ways of relating. Her tenth grade music theory project became one of the songs for the musical, beginning Rory Michelle’s career in writing fun, authentic, sincere, and alive music that speaks to the heart. With the addition of Moira Lo Bianco’s brilliant harmonies and arrangements, Jonathan Shanes' inspired composing, plus Anna Jastrzembski’s keen eye for playwriting, the musical Rising in Love has grown up from a collection of Rory Michelle’s songs to a project with a life of its own.

Be a Part of It

This is a critical juncture in the lifecycle of Rising in Love. Where we are now - the development phase - is where the work is created, workshopped, revised, and reworked until it is ready for a full production. Your support today will enable us to take the first two major steps – completing the score and getting the show in front of its first live audience for a workshop this spring. Donate now.
